          Description

Gymnocalycium mihanovichii hibotan is known by its common name “Moon Cactus”.

These unique cacti lacks chlorophyll  and so this purple moon cactus cannot survive independently, and as a mutant cactus, has to be grafted onto another cactus that appears in a globular shape on the top.

We love and are constantly creating new varieties.  This Grafted Fuchsia Moon Cactus is one of our favorites.

Belonging to the Cactaceae family, this winter dormant succulent is characterized by a slow growth rate. Its origin can be traced to Argentina. Reluctant to full sun exposure, the cacti require deep shade to grow healthily to their full height of 3 to 5 cm.

          Growth Rate
Moon cactus is easy to grow succulent with a slow growth rate.

          Flowering
During summer, which is the blooming season, you can see pinkish-white Moon cactus flowers appear.

          Watering and Feeding
Moon cactus care and watering needs are minimal, especially in winters. During the rest of the year, ensure to water deeply and then wait before the soil completely dries up.

          Soil
The soil to pot Gymnocalycium mihanovichii should be light and fast draining.

          Hardiness
The hardiness zone of this succulent is 8 to 11. It is frost-hardy and has a frost tolerance of −6.7 ° C (19.94 ° F).

          Light
Moon cacti love warmer temperatures but not the scorching sun. They grow well when sheltered by taller trees in the open. When planted indoors, they need to be placed behind windows with blinds and curtains. Ensure to offer deep shade for their impressive growth.

          Propagation
The best time to propagate is spring. Offsets from the plant base should be removed and rooted in a cactus potting soil.
